Andrew Duplantis
Increasing The Voltage

If there was a listing of the busiest musicians in Austin, Andrew Duplantis would make the short list. Relocating from his native Lafayette, LA to Austin in 1990, Duplantis hit the street running and hasn't looked back since.

From his current status as bass player with Son Volt, Duplantis has played with the likes of Alejandro Escovedo, Jon Dee Graham, Buick MacKane and Tia Carrera. The list doesn't stop here. When back home in Austin and not touring, he also plays with Rebecca's Ragtime Revue, Superego All-Stars, The Tortilla Flats ( the world's first Doug Sahm cover band) as well as  guitar with Miles Per Hour. He currently fronts his own band, The Unfaithfuls. To say Duplantis is one busy and in demand musician would be an understatement.

Before becoming a regular member of several of Austin's -- and the world's -- top bands, Duplantis opened for and toured with Richard Buckner, Curt Kirkwood of The Meat Puppets, Bob Mould, Alejandro Escovedo, Jon Dee Graham, Michael Fracasso, Vic Chestnutt, Moonlight Towers, Glory Fountain and Son Volt. He's played keyboards with Dumptruck as well as the Diamond Smugglers. Want more? Duplantis has also contributed his talents to The Meat Puppets and Collin Herring. Add to that, recording credits with most of the above and you begin to see just how in demand this forward playing musician really is.

Currently you'll find Duplantis touring with Son Volt, Jon Dee Graham and Tia Carrera. And, as if not busy enough, when he finds the time, Duplantis likes to hit the road for a solo or duet tour.

Duplantis has recorded and released three CD's of his own. The Sin Pelo CD, "Navigation" was released in 2001. "Only Funny the First Time" came out in 2004 and he's just released his latest with The Unfaithfuls, "Colorblind".

Here’s what "The Austin Chronicle" has to say about his CD’s:
